5 Ways To Upcycle In The Garden
From planters, seating and lighting, I’ve found some ingenious ways to upcycle things in the garden. They can save you money and also help to reduce the stuff we throw away and re-use them instead. Here’s my round up of some simple ideas to get you started.
1. Planters
No plant pots? No problem. You can really get creative with ways to re-use household items as planters. Just make sure you have drainage holes in the bottom, otherwise you could rot the roots of your plants.

2. Plant labels
For seedlings and your prize shrubs, you may want to label them. Here’s some ways to re-use items to label your plants.

3. Seating
A couple of years ago, we made some outdoor seating using pallets – you can find the step by step guide on how we did it here. The seats are still going strong now and we’ve saved ourselves a fortune on outdoor furniture.

4. Bird feeders
During lockdown, I posted a link on how to make a bird feeder from a toilet roll! (see post about ‘things to make with toilet rolls’ For something a bit more longer lasting, here’s a couple of ideas.

5. Lighting
Fairy lights around the garden are so pretty and can really help set a cosy tone for your garden. I love this idea of wrapping them around a couple of old hanging baskets – hang them from a tree, fence or wall and they’d make a nice feature.

This other idea of taking a solar light and putting it with an actual lampshade is brilliant. I love this whole way of making your outside space feel like another room.
