Cross The Body Hand Bag In Stig Lindberg

Cross the body bag with extendable strap, made from Stig Lindberg fabric.

Out of stock

A cross the body hand bag made from fabric offcuts.  I’ve sometimes seen this called a Banana Bag.  Either way, it makes a great handbag that provides for hands free carrying of all your essentials!

This one  I have made using a designer fabric made by Stig Lindberg.  It’s a fascinating brightly coloured design and one of those prints that the more you look at it, the more you’ll keep seeing.  I managed to salvage an end of roll of this fabric and also made some tote bags and this one-off cross the body handbag.

I’ve lined the bag with some vintage baby pink cotton fabric.

The Measurements

The bag itself measures approximately 40cm across and 18cm high at the widest point.

You can adjust the strap and can be extended to 99cm long and shortened to 58cm.  At this shorter length, the bag could also be worn as a handbag over the shoulder.

How To Care For Your Bag

As this bag is made from a mix of fabrics, I would hand wash.  If you want to put it in the washing machine, I would recommend putting the bag in a pillowcase and putting it on a delicates or the coolest wash that you have.

A Word On Eco Credentials

All my creations are made using fabric that I’ve gathered from sofa companies local to me.  Fabric offcuts that would otherwise be incinerated or perhaps go to landfill.  Each year, we estimate that we save about half to a tonne of fabric from landfill.   A combination of  sample books, offcut pieces to end of rolls of fabric, I always keep everything I collect.  When people hear about what I do, I very often get given vintage fabric particularly bedding, tablecloths and even old button boxes. By buying from me, we are doing our little bit to divert fabric from landfill and salvage and upcycle the fabric and make them into the items you see on my shop online.  Thank you for buying from me and helping to do our bit.
